Knights Ranked 16th in Coaches Poll

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – For the first time since the 2015 season, the UCF women’s soccer team will open its campaign as a Top 25 squad. The United Soccer Coaches Association listed the Knights at No. 16 in its preseason poll.

The Knights, who began the 2015 campaign as No. 17, are the only American Athletic Conference program recognized among the Top 25. UCF rose as high as No. 6 in the rankings last season and finished the 2017 campaign at No. 17

In addition to the national accolade, UCF was also tabbed as the preseason favorite in The American on Aug. 7. The Knights, who captured the league’s regular season title in 2017, placed two on the preseason all-conference team in Vera Varis and Dina Orschmann. Varis was also tabbed as The American Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.

UCF will host Wyoming in an exhibition contest on Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. and officially kick off the 2018 campaign on Aug. 19 when the Knights welcome FGCU to the UCF Soccer Complex.

The UCF women's soccer team is set for its sixth season under head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak and will welcome five teams from the 2017 NCAA Tournament to the UCF Soccer Complex in 2018. Click here or call (407) 823-1000 for ticket information.
