Talking About Training

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's soccer team officially opened its season on Friday as the Knights held their first training day of 2018.

The two-a-day session involved fitness testing early in the morning before on-field work in the afternoon.

In just six days, UCF welcomes Wyoming to the UCF Soccer Complex for the first of two preseason exhibitions. Slated for a 7 p.m. start, fans will get their first look at the newcomers that will join 11 returners who clocked time in at least 10 matches last year. Headlining those coming back for the Black and Gold are 2017 American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year Vera Varis and Rookie of the Year Dina Orschmann, along with all-rookie selection Stefanie Sanders.

The Knights open the 2018 campaign on Aug. 19, welcoming FGCU to Orlando for a 6 p.m. kick. UCF will play eight regular season matches at the UCF Soccer Complex this fall, hosting a pair of squads who earned bids to the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Among those making the trip to The City Beautiful is Florida on Sept. 9. The defending American Athletic Conference regular season champion Knights will open league play at Temple on Sept. 27.
