ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Sophomore Louis Perez has been named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the opening week of play after the Knights picked up the win at Penn State Friday evening.
Perez tallied three points with a goal and an assist in the 2-1 overtime win. He headed in a perfect pass from Yoni Sorokin in the last seconds of the first half to tie the game for the Knights’ first goal of the 2018 season.
In the 102nd minute, Perez took his 17th corner of the game and sent a ball into Ricardo Oliveros who headed it in for the golden goal that secured UCF the victory.
Perez led the team in shots with five along with registering two shots on goal.
The Knights host UC Irvine Monday evening at 7 p.m. for their home opener. The match will be streamed live via UCFKnights.TV and live stats will also be available. All fans in attendance can grab a free popsicle courtesy of Pop Parlour.
