Top 10 Moments – The first two years under head coach Johnny Dawkins have included a number of great moments for UCF Men's Basketball. With a highly anticipated third season coming up in 2018-19, we're counting down the Top 10 Moments in the Johnny Dawkins era so far.
#6 – TACKO DOMINATES IN BACK-TO-BACK MONSTER GAMES
Tacko Fall has thrived under the leadership of Johnny Dawkins and the difference was noticeable immediately.
In Fall's first game under Dawkins, the 7-foot-6 center scored 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, going 8-of-11 from the field and blocking four shots in an 80-56 win to start the 2016-17 season.
The success continued at the Charleston Classic, as Fall went 13-of-17 from the floor, scoring 26 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in a win over Mississippi State. He then went perfect from the field, 10-for-10, in a 20-point, 13-rebound outing in a close loss to defending champion Villanova.
Fall's excellence during the first two months of the 2016-17 season culminated in a pair of home victories over Miami (Ohio) and Bethune-Cookman. The big man scored a career high 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against the RedHawks, shooting 11-of-12 from the floor and 9-of-12 from the free throw line.
He then came back with a 20-point, 12-rebound performance in a 71-41 throttling of the Wildcats. He went 10-for-11 from the floor and blocked two shots, as the Knights finished up non-conference play with a record of 9-3.
In the two-game stretch, Fall went 21-of-23 from the floor, or 91.3 percent, while averaging over 25 points and grabbing 11 rebounds per game.
Fall was named The American Player of the Week and was featured on SportsCenter for his impressive performances.
