How Do I Get Recruited?
- Complete the Recruit Questionnaire. Once we have this information we'll contact you.
- Contact us at rowing@athletics.ucf.edu. Send our staff a message to express your interest and a brief summary of your rowing experience.
- Register with the NCAA at www.eligibilitycenter.org. Only those registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center can be recruited to UCF.
- Take an unofficial visit to UCF to meet the team and coaches. Simply call or email a coaching staff member and set up a meeting. It's also a good idea to schedule a campus tour and plan a visit to the department in which you may want to study.
- Coaches and recruits will continue to get to know each other by phone and email.
- It's a good idea to ask your coach to send a recommendation for you to a UCF coach (email is fine). Recommendation letters should include confirmation of your erg test scores.
- Update your erg scores, grades and accomplishments with UCF coaches periodically.
- If the time comes, UCF coaches will invite you for an official visit to UCF. These visits are typically scheduled for September, October and November, however, they can occur at other times during the year.
-
- Official visits can only be offered to high school students going into their senior year, or to people who have graduated high school (eg. College student wanted to transfer),
-
- We'll ask you for a date that works best for you (and your parent if they want to come). Visits are usually over weekends (Friday - Sunday).
- We'll need you to send us your 1) unofficial transcript, 2) SAT/ACT scores, 3) your senior year current class schedule, and 4) what you might like to study at UCF (if you know),
- Then we'll arrange travel, and send you an itinerary for the trip (ie. what you'll be doing while you're here).
- When the time comes, coaches may offer recruits a financial aid package and ask the recruit to sign a National Letter of Intent. The National Letter of Intent is explained in the FAQs or you can go to http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/nli/nli for more information.
- The next steps will be to prepare for matriculation. We guide our recruits step-by-step through admissions and other necessary administrative steps from signing to their first day of class at UCF!
