ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – UCF Athletics had another record-setting year in 2017-18. The Knights received $13.4 million in cash-gift revenues from fund-raising during the 2017-18 fiscal year.
That total is over $2.5 million more than last year's record total of $10.8 million. It's the second straight year receiving more than $10 million in cash gift revenues. Over the past seven years, cash-gift revenues have risen from $5.2 million in 2011-12 to their current levels.
UCF Athletics Championship Resources, a rebranded name for the Knights' development arm, also enjoyed a successful 2017-18 fiscal year in securing gift commitments moving forward. While the 2016-17 mark of $17.5 million in commitments was a record (including a $5 million commitment from Kenneth G. Dixon), this past year's total of $16.6 million is the second-highest mark in department history.
"With our goal of providing our student-athletes with a championship-level experience, we need to provide championship-level resources," UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Danny White said. "The re-branding of our development department more closely aligns us with our mission, vision and goals from our Strategic Plan, while also clearly defining what that unit's goal is. That group has done an outstanding job of developing relationships with our wonderful donors, alumni, fans and friends. We can't thank them enough for stepping up to support our vision for the future of UCF Athletics. Our 435 student-athletes continue to excel in competition, in the classroom and in the community, thanks to every member of Knight Nation who supports them."
Deputy Director of Athletics for Championship Resources and Assistant Vice President Mark Wright heads up UCF's Championship Resources team. He also expressed great appreciation for those who support the Black and Gold.
"In our efforts to deliver a Top 25 athletics program, competitive resources are essential," Wright said. "Enhanced charitable investments by UCF alumni and fans have never been more critical to our mission and success. Every gift, no matter the size, makes an impact. On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches and staff, we sincerely appreciate those who have generously supported our efforts and look forward to a very bright future for the Knights."
In an effort to attract and retain championship-caliber coaches and student-athletes, the Knights remain focused on a $30 million facilities development campaign to build and enhance athletics facilities at UCF. More than 50 percent of that goal has already been committed toward this campaign.
