ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF volleyball head coach Todd Dagenais announced the hiring of T.J. Read as the Knights' director of operations. Read joins the Black and Gold after one year at N.C. State in the same position.
"T.J. is somebody we have been trying to hire for a few years now," Dagenais said. "We're thrilled that we finally have him as part of the UCF staff. His knowledge about the game, his past experience, his service in the Air Force and his high-level experience working with technology in the college volleyball world is going to be infinitely priceless to our program. We are all looking forward to his family joining our family."
In his lone year in Raleigh, N.C., Read was a part of the Wolfpack's run to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament in 2017. Prior to joining N.C. State, he spent two years as the volunteer assistant coach for the Ohio State men's volleyball team. Read helped the Buckeyes win their second national championship in 2016. He played for the Buckeyes from 2011-2014.
He also worked at the Elite Volleyball Training Center as a head coach and program director for two years during his time in Ohio.
Prior to joining Ohio State, Read served just over four years in the United States Air Force as a medical specialist. He continued in the Air Force Reserve for six more years from 2011 to 2016.
Read replaces previous director of operations Kelly Palma. After two seasons with the Knights as the volunteer assistant coach and the director of operations, Palma accepted the same position at the University of Miami in June.
