ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Orlando Magazine came out with its annual 50 Most Powerful People in Orlando, and UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Danny White was named the No. 1 most powerful person in sports.
It marked second time that White has appeared on the 50 Most Powerful People in Orlando, receiving a spot on the list in 2017.
White wrapped up his second full year at the helm of UCF Athletics. The 2017-18 athletics season saw the Knights reach new heights with the football team claiming a national championship as the only undefeated team in the nation. The title run generated $171,079,417 in exposure for the university and the football program.
UCF also boasted a pair of American Athletic Conference titles from women's soccer and rowing. In addition to those two sports, volleyball, women's basketball and men's golf also reached the postseason.
Off the field, the Knights posted a school record 3.33 department GPA on the year and recorded the highest graduation rate among NCAA Division I FBS public institutions for the fourth at 94-percent.
He was named a finalist for the Sports Business Journal's Athletic Director of the Year honor in 2018 and 40 Under 40 honoree by the Sports Business Journal and Orlando Business Journal.
