Opens in a new window AVCA Grant Burger Media Awards

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF Assistant Director of Athletic Communications Ian MacDougall was recognized for his work by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

MacDougall was named the AVCA Southeast Region Division I SID of the Year. He was one of 10 regional honorees. MacDougall is the third member of the UCF Athletic Communications staff to receive the regional distinction, joining Eric DeSalvo (2011-12) and Megan Herboth (2014-15).

"Ian has come in and taken on the responsibility of telling the inside story of UCF Volleyball," head coach Todd Dagenais said. "Sure, he does a great job of talking about the matches and statistics, but he's really excelled in helping us shed light for our fans about our players - who they are as people; who they are as students; what their future goals are. He has done a fantastic job with both media and social media. Many more people know about UCF Volleyball, and the inner workings of our program, than have ever done so before. He continues to innovate every day because of his passion for his job and the program."

The regional honors were announced as part of the AVCA's 2017-18 Grant Burger Media Awards release.

MacDougall recently completed his first year as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at UCF. He is the primary communications contact for volleyball, baseball and men's and women's tennis for the Knights.
