TALLAHASSEE (UCFKnights.com) -- Kaeli Jones wrapped up her participation at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional Wednesday afternoon at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course. Jones finished tied for 46th amongst a field of 96.
Jones was 3-over for the tournament after posting scores of 75 (+3) and 72 (E) on Monday and Tuesday. She would need to climb the leaderboard on Wednesday to have an opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championship round. She got off to a stellar start in the third and final round. Birdies on Nos. 5 and 6 pushed her to 2-under for the day and +1 for the tournament. She remained in that position at the turn. But the back nine wasn't as kind. Four bogeys on the back nine left her at 2-over for the day and 5-over for the tournament.
Alabama, Florida State, Furman, Arizona, Washington and Clemson all advanced to the NCAA Championship as a team.
Jones' participation in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional capped off the Knights' 2017-18 season. It marked the seventh straight year that UCF's women's golf team was represented in the NCAA postseason. The Knights have either qualified as a team or with an individual in each of head coach Emily Marron's six seasons in charge of the program.
