ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – Former UCF star Matt Williams finished his first professional season playing for the Miami Heat and the NBA G League's Sioux Falls Skyforce and is now set to play in front of a group of NBA team personnel at the ninth annual G League Elite Mini Camp May 14-15.
The Elite Mini Camp, held in Chicago's Quest Multisport gym, is a two-day scouting event featuring some of the NBA G League's top prospects. About 40 players are scheduled to attend.
Before the NBA Draft's top prospects meet later in the week, the NBA G League's camp offers standouts from this past season another chance to showcase their talents in front of NBA team personnel, before NBA Summer League and 2018 training camps.
Originally signed to a two-way deal with the Heat, Williams made three appearances while with Miami. His first NBA appearance was on Dec. 23 against the New Orleans Pelicans, while his first NBA points scored came three days later when he knocked down a three against his hometown Orlando Magic.
Williams spent most of the year with the Skyforce, averaging 10.2 points and 25.6 minutes per game in 43 contests. He grabbed 2.7 rebounds per game and shot 38.9 percent from three-point range. His 124 made three-pointers ranked ninth overall in the G League.
