Senior Sunday Sweep

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF softball team capped off the regular season with a sweep over ECU after taking down the Pirates, 4-3 Sunday afternoon.

The series win moves the Knights to 34-21 overall and a 12-9 record in the American Athletic Conference.

The afternoon also played part to seniors Courtney Rotton and Megan Greenwell's last home games as UCF Knights.

In Sunday's win, Kyra Klarkowski went 2-for-3 with one run scored, one RBI, and two walks, while Brooke Barlow and Greenwell also collected a pair of hits.

Alea White made her 37th start of the season and snagged the win after throwing the entire seven innings allowing three runs on seven hits in 104 pitches.

UCF drew first blood scoring in the first after Cassady Brewer ripped a double to left center and scored a run after Klarkowski delivered a two-out single to right.

The Pirates responded with a run of their own after Alex Mycek hit a solo home run over the wall in left field.

The score remained 1-1 until the Knights rallied in the fifth with Klarkowski leading off the inning with a double to center and knocked in by Erin Emanuel to regain the lead. Barlow and Greenwell drove in one run each to give UCF a 4-1 lead.

ECU mustered up two runs late in the game, but it wasn't enough as the Knights secured the series sweep with the 4-3 victory.

On the weekend, White threw all 21 innings for three complete games, and picked up three wins. She posted a 2.33 earned run average giving up seven total runs to finish out the regular season, 25-14.

Barlow finished the three-game series hitting .625 going 5-for-8 with three runs scored and two RBI, while carrying a .750 slugging percentage.

Denali Schappacher and Brewer each recorded a hit in the win, extending their on-base streaks. Schappacher improves her streak to 13 games, while Brewer has made it on base safely in 22 straight games.

The Knights prepare for The American Conference tournament in Tampa, Fla., beginning May 10th. UCF will be the four seed and will play No. 5 Memphis at 4 p.m.
