KISSIMMEE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Kyler Tate moves into pole position individually after shooting 65(-7) Tuesday afternoon to round out the second round of the NCAA Regional Championship. Tate is -8 after two days to help the Knights sit in second place heading into the third and final day of competition.

As a team, UCF shot -8 Tuesday at The Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, to put together a total score of 556(-20) for two days.

UCF sits four strokes ahead of No. 29 Kent State and seven strokes in front of No. 20 USF after 36 holes.

Tate birdied five times on the front nine making the turn at -5. On the back, he collected two more birdies to finish out the day -7. Manuel Elvira prevailed on the back nine after shooting one over on the front. Elvira birdied holes 10 and 11 to start the second half of his day and gathered two more birdies to close out his second round -2.

Juuso Kahlos is tied for sixth overall after having a consistent day on the course shooting par after a pair of bogeys and a pair of birdies. Bobby Bai finished the day strong wrapping up the back nine one under par to close out the day with a 73.

Tommy Cao put together a pair of birdies in the second half of his day to finish with a score of 77.

Overall, four Knights will head into day three with a -3 or better from the first two rounds.

UCF continues to dominate the par fives shooting -17 over the first two rounds. The Knights have compiled 39 birdies and 115 pars in 36 holes. Kahlos is second in the field in average par three score averaging 2.75 strokes per par three and two under overall. Kahlos and Elvira are among the top competitors in the tournament in most pars with 25 each.

The Knights will begin the third round paired with Florida, Kent State, and USF with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

The top five teams from the region will move on to the National Championship held in Stillwater, Okla., from May 25-28.
