TEAM NOTES
• The Knights went 2-2 on the weekend with a 1-2 mark in The American.
• UCF scored four runs against Stetson pitcher Joey Gonzalez, who was one of seven players with a sub-1.00 ERA in the country. Griffin Bernardo's three-run home run proved to be the difference, which was just the fourth homer given up by the Hatters.
• The Knights needed extra innings to down UConn in the series opener on Saturday. The Black and Gold scored four in the ninth to send the game to extras, before plating a pair of runs in the 11th.
• UCF committed seven errors against the Huskies in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader, the most by the Knights in the last 20 years. JJ Montgomery took the loss after a complete game with just one earned run against.
• The Black and Gold rallied with a pair of scores in the ninth to square up the series finale at 6-6. With time constraints due to UCF's travel, the game would have ended in a tie, if it were not for a bases-loaded wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth to give UConn the series.
• The Knights are now 1-2 in American Athletic Conference series.
• UCF is 3-1 this season in walk-offs and 5-3 in the Greg Lovelady era.
• Rylan Thomas extended his on-base streak to 41 games.
• Matthew Mika matched his season high with nine straight games on base.
• The Black and Gold is 5-4 this year against ranked opponents.
