STORRS, Conn. (UCFKnights.com) - Megan Greenwell went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base in the final game of the series with UConn as the Knights fell to the Huskies, 5-1.
Aubrey Johnson and Kyra Klarkowski each recorded a hit for UCF as the Knights move to 26-15 overall and 6-3 in the American Athletic Conference.
The Huskies struck first with a home run in the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead and UCF threatened in the third drawing back-to-back walks but couldn't get the runners around to score.
UConn extended their lead to 2-0 after a UCF miscue in the third, but the Knights fought back in the fifth with a two-out RBI single from Aubrey Johnson to narrow the Huskie lead, 2-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Huskies delivered another home run to widen their lead, 4-1 before hitting their third home run of the game in the sixth for a 5-1 advantage.
Alea White took the loss of the Knights as she moves to 20-10 on the season after giving up four earned runs on seven hits, while striking out seven Huskies.
On the weekend, both Greenwell and Cassady Brewer hit .429 collecting three hits each, while Klarkowski, Johnson, and Denali Schappacher also registered three hits each for the Knights.
