ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After starting the season as one of the top hitters in the nation, UCF first baseman Rylan Thomas was named to the Perfect Game/Rawlings Midseason All-America Second Team. Thomas was one of three players from the American Athletic Conference to receive Midseason All-America honors.

Through the opening 30 games of the year, Thomas hit .426 with 36 RBI and eight home runs. He ranks among the nation's best in batting average (9th), hits (4th) and runs (6th). The sophomore has reached safely in every game this season and has an on-base streak of 38 games.

Earlier this season, Thomas went on a career-long nine-game hitting streak, during which he posted a .613 clip at the plate and a 1.032 slugging percentage. The midseason honor adds to the American Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year laurel that he received back in December.

UCF is 21-9 on the year with a 3-3 mark in The American. The Knights will venture to Connecticut this weekend for a three-game series against the Huskies.
