Doumbia to Don Black and Gold

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men's basketball team has made another addition to the program with the signing of South Carolina transfer Ibrahim Famouke Doumbia, head coach Johnny Dawkins announced on Tuesday.

"Ibrahim will bring a lot of energy to the program," Dawkins said. "He's a very explosive player. His ability to finish around the basket and run the floor will be key. He has as much potential as any player we've recruited here, and he'll continue to develop on and off the court this next season. We're excited for Ibrahim to join our UCFamily."

Doumbia, a 6-foot-6 wing out of Bamako, Mali, played last season for the Gamecocks, appearing in 12 games off the bench. He will sit out next year and then have three seasons to play at UCF.

Prior to his year in Columbia, Doumbia starred at Miami Country Day School, averaging 27 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks per game as a senior, while earning First Team All-Dade County accolades by the Miami Herald.

A four-star recruit according to ESPN and a three-star according to 247sports.com, Doumbia also represented his home country of Mali on the National Team at the FIBA Africa U-18 Championships in 2016.

Doumbia signs with the Knights just a week after UCF announced the addition of junior college transfer Frank Bertz. Bertz, Doumbia and Dre Fuller – signed out of Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg this fall – make up the Black and Gold's incoming class for 2018-19.
