Day Three Dominance

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men's golf team capped off the American Athletic Conference Championships Tuesday afternoon at the Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Fla. with a round three score of 281, three under par.

Four of five Knights shot par or better as UCF finished third in the three-day tournament with a total team score of 865 ( 13).

Donnie Trosper paced the Knights in the third round with a 69, two under par and finished the tournament tied for 21st with a 219 total.  Trosper had the third lowest number of strokes per par five averaging 4.67 strokes on par fives and finished the Championships four under on par fives.

Manuel Elvira wrapped up the tournament in seventh collecting seven birdies for a score of 70 on day three and 214 overall ( 1).

Juuso Kahlos and Kyler Tate each shot par Tuesday and finished tied for 15th place individually with a 218 total for 54 holes.

Sophomore Bobby Bai capped of the final round with a 73 to record a 222 in his second trip to The American Championships averaging 4.67 strokes per par five, tied with Trosper for third lowest in the field of 50.

The Knights led the pack in average strokes for par fives with a low 4.77 strokes per par five, while also leading the field in birdies made with 43. UCF was second in averages strokes on par fours, just behind the winner, USF.

No. 21 ranked USF finished in the top stop with an 842 total (-10), while SMU took second just three strokes ahead of UCF.

UCF will host a Division I NCAA men's golf regional from May 14-16 at The Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Fla. Golf Central will announce the 81 teams and 45 individuals selected to compete in the six NCAA Men's Regional Championships on Wednesday, May 2nd at 6 p.m. ET.
