PALM HARBOR, Kan. (UCFKnights.com) – With a team score of 295, the UCF Knights men's golf team has wrapped up day two in third in the American Athletic Conference Championships at the Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Fla.
Manuel Elvira paced the Knights shooting one over par with a 72 and sits tied for eighth overall individually. Kyler Tate and Juuso Kahlos each round out day two tied for 19th with Kahlos posting a 73 and Tate recording a 76.
Donnie Trosper posted an improvement from the first round with a 74 for Monday's 18, while Bobby Bai finished the day with a 77.
The Black and Gold have registered 111 pars and 24 birdies thus far in the tournament and are averaging 4.83 strokes on par fives.
UCF trails No. 21 ranked USF and SMU heading into day three in a race to be crowned The American Champion. The Knights are just two back from SMU, while USF holds a 21-stroke lead.
The Knights cap off the conference tournament on Tuesday with their first tee time at 8:13 a.m.
The American Championship will take place on the Par 71, 7125-yard Copperhead Course from Sunday, April 22 to Tuesday, April 24 at the Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Fla. Eighteen holes will be played Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
