ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After helping the UCF baseball team toss a one hitter at USF in the series opener on Friday, Cre Finfrock was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

The redshirt junior was nearly unstoppable against one of the top offensive teams in the league. Finfrock dealt eight strikeouts over six innings of work. The Bulls managed to put just four runners on base against the righty due to one hit, one walk and a pair of hit by pitches. Finfrock improved to 4-0 on the year.

After missing the 2017 season through injury, Finfrock has bounced back in even better form. He currently has a 3.45 ERA in 28 2/3 innings with 35 strikeouts. In three starts, Finfrock is 3-0 with an 0.64 ERA and 17 strikeouts, while opponents are hitting just .104 off of him.

Finfrock is the second Knight to earn weekly honors from the league and the first pitcher this season. He joins two-time Player of the Week selection Tyler Osik.

The Knights will return to action on Friday to start a crucial three-game home series against Wichita State at John Euliano Park. Friday's contest will be Joe Skinner Knight to benefit the Skinner Strong Foundation. To make a contribution to the Knights' fundraising efforts for the game, click here
