TEAM NOTES
• The Knights picked up their first American Athletic Conference series win of the year.
• At 3-3, the Knights are fourth in The American Standings, behind ECU, USF and Houston.
• The Black and Gold notched their 35th straight season with at least 20 wins.
• UCF's 20 overall wins is tied for the most in the league.
• UCF opened its series against Memphis with a 7-1 victory. Joe Sheridan gave the Black and Gold 5 1/3 innings of work with six strikeouts. The lefty made way for Thad Ward in the sixth. Ward fanned five to earn the win. The Knights were selective with their pitch counts and drew four bases-loaded walks.
• Memphis shut the Knights out, 9-0, in the second game of the doubleheader on Friday. Chris Williams gave the Black and Gold five innings of three-hit ball, but a seven-run sixth inning gave Memphis enough distance to even the series. It was the second time this season that UCF was shutout.
• On Saturday, the bullpen came up big for the Knights with six innings of work, allowing just one earned run in a 9-3 victory. Rylan Thomas drove in a pair of runs, as the Black and Gold struck for six runs in the ninth to claim the series.
• UCF is 3-1 in doubleheaders this year.
• The Knights scored 11 runs in the ninth inning during the series, taking the season total up to 18.
• Rylan Thomas extended his career-high on-base streak to 37 games.
• The pitching staff fanned 11 in both games on Friday, marking the 15th and 16th double-figure strikeout games of the year.
• Dallas Beaver went 6-for-10 at the dish with one RBI.
• Griffin Bernardo tallied four RBI on the weekend. He had five entering the weekend.
• The pitching staff put together a 2.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
