ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Sophomore Bobby Bai was named American Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week on Wednesday after winning the 15th annual Boilermaker Invitational on April 14-15.

This is Bai's first Player of the Week in his collegiate career and the first for men's golf this season. Competing at the Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind., Bai fired two rounds under par finishing with a score of 139 (70-69 – 139). Only 36 holes were played due to unplayable conditions during the final round of 18.

Bai converted four birdies in the first 18 holes and followed up the second round of 18 with eight birdies in total and an eagle on the seventh hole. The sophomore also led the pack in averages strokes for par fives with a 4.25 average. For the two rounds, he shot six under on par five holes.

Bai's five under par put him atop the leaderboard, where the Shantou, China native finished ahead of three players ranked among the Golfstat top 100.

Bai helped UCF place ninth at the tournament, which featured three Golfstat top 40 programs. The Knights bested Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Wichita State in the highly competitive field hosted by Purdue.

With its regular season concluded, UCF will next compete at the American Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship presented by Visit St. Pete Clearwater on April 22-24.
