ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF outfielder Tyler Osik was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday, the league announced. The redshirt junior was instrumental in carrying the Knights to a 3-1 record on the week.
Osik carried the Black and Gold offensively with 13 RBI over the course of four games. The first-year Knights homered in every game against Cincinnati on the weekend, falling a solo shot shy of the weekend cycle. After a 1-for-3 performance against Miami on Wednesday, Osik posted a 1.385 slugging percentage during the series against the Bearcats.
The redshirt junior took over the team lead in RBI with 45 this season. He is hitting .346 with a .567 slugging percentage and eight home runs. Osik ranks fifth in the nation in RBI and seventh in the conference in batting average.
UCF will square off with Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., before taking on USF for the War on I-4 this weekend in Tampa.
