ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF Softball team plays their final midweek game of the season hosting the Florida Atlantic Owls on Tuesday, April 17 at 5:30 p.m. You can catch the action at the UCF Softball Complex or live on UCFKnights.tv.
Tuesday will also feature $1 hot dogs and a neon tank giveaway for the first 75 students. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
The Black and Gold are 8-4 in the American Athletic Conference and 29-16 overall after taking the recent series from Memphis.
Nationally, sophomore pitcher Alea White is second in victories with 22 after picking up two wins last week. With the wins last week, she has now collected 40 career wins and moves into the top 10 all-time in UCF program history.
Cassady Brewer paces The American in walks per game (0.63) with 26 total on the season. She has reached base safely in her last 12 games, and has drawn at least one walk in the last seven games.
THE FIELD
Florida Atlantic: 22-21 overall and 9-6 in Conference USA. The Owls hold the advantage in the overall series with the Knights winning 15 of 25 games, but UCF has been victorious in recent years winning five of the last seven battles.
FAU is third in C-USA behind UAB and Louisiana Tech and have won three of their five conference series.
The Owls are coming off a split series with Florida Gul Coast playing 17 innings in total on the evening.
RECAPPING THE LAST UCF OUTING
Behind the bat of Aubrey Johnson, the UCF softball team secured the series over Memphis with a 6-2 win on Sunday.
The win puts the Knights in second place in The American and just one game behind USF, while Memphis drops to third.
On the weekend, Johnson went 5-for-10 with a home run, six RBI, and eleven total bases for a .345 season batting average. Kyra Klarkowski and Denali Schappacher each went 4-for-8 in the series including five runs scored for the freshman.
Schappacher and White were named to The American Honor Roll for their performance on the field over the weekend as White went 2-1 last week and recorded a save in four appearances for the Knights. She threw 23 total innings, giving up nine earned runs on 28 hits for a 2.74 ERA. She picked up a win and a save in the series.
