WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (UCFKnights.com) - Bobby Bai leads the field of 93 players with a 139 for 36 holes shooting 70 (-2) for the first 18 and a 69 (-3) for the second round of the 15th annual Boilermaker Invitational hosted by Purdue.
The sophomore converted four birdies in the first 18 holes and followed up the second round of 18 with eight birdies in total and an eagle on the seventh hole. The Shantou, China native also leads the pack in averages strokes for par fives with a 4.25 average. On the day, he shot six under on par five holes.
As a team, UCF sits in ninth shooting back-to-back rounds of 264 for 588 on the day. The Knights settle day one ahead of Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Wichita State, while Kent State leads the field with a 579 (+6).
The Knights are tied for first in average strokes for par five holes averaging 4.83 strokes per par five. At the end of play on Saturday, UCF sank 26 birdies, parred 106 holes, and drained an eagle.
Donnie Trosper is in 20th overall with a 146 after two rounds shooting just one over par in each round. Juuso Kahlos rests in third for the Knights with scores of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4) for the opening rounds, while Manuel Elvira is close behind with two rounds of 76 (+4).
Kyler Tate shot a 155 for 36 holes, and Jalen Ledger, who is competing as an individual, shot 162 in his first rounds of the season.
