ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF Volleyball head coach Todd Dagenais added another name to his star-studded 2018 signing class on Thursday. Outside hitter Paulina Perez Rosas signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at UCF.
"Paulina is a highly experienced, six-rotation, multi-talented volleyball player," Dagenais said. "She has so much experience playing for her national team against the best players in the world in her age group. That kind of confidence, and her brand of energy is going to be an important part of our team chemistry this fall. She is a wonderful young lady that will embody everything that our program and UCF Athletics stands for."
Perez, a native of Guanica, Puerto Rico, will bring a breadth of experience from the international level. She has been a member of the Puerto Rican National Team since she was 14 years old. Perez was named the captain of the U15 and U18 national squads. Her international experience spanned several North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) Pan American Championships.
She guided Puerto Rico to a fourth-place finish at the NORCECA U20 Pan American Cup in 2017, in which she tied for 25th in scoring for the tournament.
The 6-foot outside hitter was the leading scorer for Puerto Rico during the NORCECA U18 Pan American Cup in Puerto Rico in 2016. She led the team in scoring in two matches against Mexico with 13 points in the group stage and 16 points in the semifinals.
The addition of Perez grows the signing class to six. The batch of new Knights will look to make an immediate impact in 2018, as the Black and Gold work to replace graduating seniors Miranda Watkins, Taylor Wickey and Kia Bright.
