ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – On April 10, UCF student-athletes and staff gathered to hear from UCF women's basketball head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson.

Coach "ABE," who recently completed her second year at UCF, shared the story of her journey from a high school basketball player being recruited to the head coach who led the Knights to their best season as a member of the American Athletic Conference.

"Empowering young people and getting them to reach their goals, not just in basketball, but in life," Coach "ABE" said of what she hoped the student-athletes would take away from the evening.

UCF senior and SAAC president Morgan Ferrara learned about Coach "ABE" off the court during the hour-long presentation.

"I love hearing our coaches speak," Ferrara said. "(We) get to know them off the court, off the field. It was so awesome to see the sensitive side of her, the family side and really hear her story."

Coach "ABE" was the third speaker in the Knight of Champions program and junior Tolulope Omokore played a major role in the planning of the event. Knight of Champions is a program the office of Student-Athlete Welfare & Development offers once a semester for all student-athletes, coaches, and staff to attend. The program is a series where a member of a UCF Athletics coaching staff is invited to share their journey along with any other inspiring words they would be willing to leave with the group. The goal of the initiative is to highlight UCF coaches while providing an opportunity to learn and grow from our very own leadership on campus.
