ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Back in Florida after a chilly weekend in Connecticut, the UCF baseball team will head to Coral Gables on Wednesday for the return leg of its season series against Miami.

First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. The game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra, and Marc Daniels will have the call on 96.9 FM/740 AM The Game.

The Knights (22-11, 4-5 The American) are coming off a 2-2 week, which included a win over then-No. 16 Stetson. UCF could not keep the momentum in its weekend series against UConn. The Black and Gold dropped two of three to the Huskies, despite an 8-for-13 weekend by Ray Alejo. Defensive miscues played a role in the series defeat with UConn scoring eight unearned runs over three games.

UCF will try to bounce back from a 4-3 loss to Miami at John Euliano Park back on March 14. Joe Sheridan went seven innings with a career-high nine strikeouts. The Knights took a 3-1 after two innings, following a home run from Rylan Thomas in the first and two runs in the second. Miami rallied with a pair of runs in the fourth, before taking the lead in the sixth on an RBI groundout.

Since that first matchup in March, the Knights have posted an 8-7 record. Thomas and Tyler Osik have paved the way offensively with 15 RBI apiece. Thad Ward has tossed 17 innings during that span with a 3-1 record and a team-high 25 strikeouts.

The Hurricanes (13-18, 7-8 AAC) have had their share of ups and downs. After sweeping No. 24 Virginia, Miami lost seven of its next eight contests. Pitcher Daniel Federman ranks sixth in the ACC in ERA with a 2.55 mark. At the plate, Isaac Quinones leads the team with a .317 clip, while Feddy Zamora tops the charts with 15 RBI.
