ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) –UCF softball will host No. 4 Florida in front of a capacity crowd Wednesday, April 4 at the UCF Softball Complex as tickets for the 6 p.m. matchup are officially sold out.
Due to the large crowd expected on Wednesday, fans are encouraged to arrive early. Ticket will call and gates open at 5 p.m.
If fans did not purchase tickets to the game, outfield viewing and parking will be available for $5 per vehicle and can be purchased at the field or in advance here. Outfield parking will be open at 2 p.m.
The Knights are 24-13 overall and 5-1 in conference play after grabbing their second consecutive conference series at Houston. The 5-1 start for the Knights is the second best start in conference play since joining The American in 2014.
The Knights are top three in the American Athletic Conference in double plays per game (0.41), fielding percentage (0.963), triples per game (0.22), and winning percentage (0.649).
Alea White maintains her stellar season collecting 18 wins thus far, which leads the conference and is second in the nation for most wins by a pitcher. White is also 11th in Division I in most shutouts with six and is top 50 in strikeouts with 119 in total.
THE FIELD
Florida: 32-4 overall and 7-2 in the Southeastern Conference as the Gators hold a 20-3 record over the Knights and have won the last eight meetings.
Nine of the 23 meetings between the programs have come during an NCAA Regional in Gainesville. UCF's last win over Florida came on April 11, 2012, when the Knights and then-freshman Mackenzie Audas shut out the No. 3 Gators, 2-0, at the UCF Softball Complex.
RECAPPING THE LAST UCF OUTING
The Knights secured the series in Houston with wins on Thursday and Friday but took their first American Athletic Conference loss of the season on Saturday against the Cougars.
White started all three games for the Knights against Houston which included two complete games and a shutout. White picked up two wins against the Cougars to secure the series for the Knights. All together she threw 19 innings collecting 11 strikeouts and kept Houston to a .242 batting average. The Land 'O Lakes native held a 1.84 ERA as she picked up her 17th and 18th win on the season.
Megan Greenwell, a part of this week's conference honor roll, exploded offensively this week for UCF hitting .625 in four games. Greenwell went five-for-eight with three runs scored. On the base path, Greenwell was 3-for-3 on stolen bases becoming the sixth on the list in UCF softball history for most stolen bases in a career. Greenwell was an integral part in the pair of wins over Houston to take the series.
Greenwell continues to etch her name in the record books as she tied Maddy Schroeder for sixth all-time for stolen bases with 55 after stealing multiple bases in the series win over Houston.
