ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Fresh off sweeping the No. 1 ranked team in the country, the No. 23 UCF baseball team will face Siena for a three-game set this weekend.
The Knights and Saints will square off for a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 2 p.m., before the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed on UCFKnights.tv.
UCF (10-3) took down No. 1 Florida in a home-and-home series during the midweek. On Tuesday, the Knights scored six runs in the third inning to take down the 2017 National Champions. Tyler Osik and Brody Wofford combined to drive in seven runs. In game two in Gainesville, the UCF pitching staff tossed a four hitter in Wednesday's 4-2 win. The Black and Gold forced Florida to strand nine runners on base.
Rylan Thomas launched his fourth home run of the season on Wednesday. The sophomore is hitting .392 with 19 RBI, good for 16th in the country. Ray Alejo swiped his 10th bag of the year this week to move up to third in the nation. The Knights are ranked second nationally in stolen bases with 44.
The Knights are in the midst of a nine-game winning streak. Thomas and Matthew Mika have led the way with batting averages of .444 and .438, respectively. Joe Sheridan and Chris Williams dominated in five combined starts with 27 strikeouts and just two earned runs against.
Siena (0-11) has had a rough start to 2018. The Saints will make their second trip to the Sunshine State this season, after opening the year at Florida. Joe Drpich leads the team with a .349 clip at the plate and five RBI.
