ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – As a senior, A.J. Davis has been playing the best basketball of his career, and on Monday he was honored by the American Athletic Conference as an All-Conference Honorable Mention selection.

Davis was one of just 13 student-athletes to be recognized by The American as All-Conference members for their performance during the 2017-18 season on Monday. Cincinnati's Jacob Evans and Gary Clark, Wichita State's Landry Shamet and Shaquille Morris, and Houston's Rob Gray were named to All-Conference First Team.

In his third season on the court with UCF, Davis has put up career-best numbers as a senior. His 12.4 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game, and 35 percent shooting from three-point range are all career highs.

The Atlanta native has been a beast on the boards all season long, ranking second in The American with 8.0 rebounds per game, and leading the league with 5.9 defensive rebounds per contest. His eight double-doubles are also the second most among any player in the conference.

Davis has been named to The American's Weekly Honor Roll five times as a senior, and he's been especially impressive lately. Over the last seven games of the regular season, Davis has averaged 18.9 points and 8.1 rebounds, while shooting 58 percent from the field and 58 percent from beyond the arc.

On Thursday, Davis and UCF will open up play at the 2018 Aaron's American Athletic Conference Championship at the Amway Center. The sixth seeded Knights (18-12, 9-9) take on 11th seeded ECU (10-19, 4-14) in the First Round at 9 p.m.
