Well-Done White

ORLANDO, Fla (UCFKnights.com) – For the third time this season, Alea White has been named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week announced Monday by the conference.

The sophomore was unstoppable last week for the Knights throwing 28 total innings and allowing just three earned runs for a 0.75 earned run average.  In her game against Princeton, White picked up her 13th win tossing five innings in the start giving up one run in the 6-1 win. In the second game with the Tigers, White came in in the fifth and threw two shutouts innings and picking up a strikeout.

White proved to be a stalwart in the circle in the conference series opener with Tulsa throwing all 21 innings with the Golden Hurricane tallying three complete games for a total of 16 on the season. In the three wins, White carried a 0.67 ERA allowing just two earned runs and striking out 13 holding Tulsa to a .237 team batting average. The sophomore earned her fifth shutout of the season with the Knights' 1-0 win Friday evening to open the series and leads the conference with 16 wins.

Her three-straight starts in the series is the first time in UCF softball program history that a pitcher has started every game in a three-game series.

On the year, White carries a 1.78 ERA with 149.2 total innings pitched and 108 strikeouts. The Land O' Lakes native ranks first in the nation in wins with 16 and 17th in Divison I in shutouts with five.

The Knights close out the eight-game home stand with a night game against Bethune-Cookman at the UCF Softball Complex on Tuesday, March 27 at 6 p.m.
