TAMPA, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field team was well-represented on the opening day of the Bulls Invitational at the USF Track and Field Stadium.
Through the first four events, Natosha Jordan sits in second place in the heptathlon after Thursday action.
In her first event of the two-day meet, Jordan raced to a first place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and collected 910 points to jump out to an early lead in the heptathlon. She added a second place finish in the high jump, clearing 5-5.25/1.73m, and threw 27-6.75/8.40m to finish eighth in the shot put.
Jordan closed the gap on the leader with a third place finish in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 25.42. She collected 2,990 points on the first day, and trails Maryland's Dallyssa Huggins by just 50 points heading into Friday.
Using a distance of 177-1/53.99m on her second throw of the day, Gabby Durant advanced to the finals in the hammer throw, and ultimately finished third overall with the mark. In her first two outdoor competitions of the season, Durant has claimed a pair of top five finishes in the event.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, for the conclusion of the Bulls Invitational in Tampa.
