ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF volleyball team will compete in the second of three scheduled spring events this weekend. On Saturday, the Knights will host USF in The Venue at 2 p.m.
Admission to the match will be free.
"We've been working a lot on changing a huge part of our offensive and defensive systems," head coach Todd Dagenais said. "This will give us another look to see how much we've grown over the last couple of months. Our young players continue to come along. The best way to find out how much they've learned is to evaluate them in game situations. Playing a conference opponent like USF will provide that atmosphere."
The Knights are coming off a 20-14 record in 2017, Dagenais 10th in Orlando. Led by AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention Kia Bright and fellow senior Taylor Wickey, UCF reached the postseason for the first time since 2014. The Black and Gold accepted a bid to play in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
Returns all but four members of the 2017 squad. Libero Jordan Pingel is slated to be the lone senior heading into the fall. After an impressive campaign, Dagenais has used the practice time in the spring to continue to develop the rising sophomore and junior class.
2018 PUERTO RICO INTERNATIONAL TOUR
The Knights will head to Puerto Rico at the end of June to prepare for the 2018 season. UCF will square off with the Puerto Rican National Team, as well as other professional and collegiate athletes from the island. Dagenais and his squad will also lend their hands to helping Puerto Rico recover from Hurricanes Irma and Maria. To contribute to the 2018 UCF Volleyball International Tour Fund, click here.
