ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The outdoor season begins Friday for the UCF track and field team, as the Knights host the Black and Gold Challenge on Friday and Saturday at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
 
The two-day meet will feature 22 schools, and UCF will be joined by nine schools from the Sunshine State, including Florida State and USF. Ohio State, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky and fellow American Athletic Conference member UConn will also be among those heading south for the meet.

Friday's field events begin with the javelin at 11 a.m., followed by pole vault at noon and hammer throw and triple jump at 1 p.m.
 
On the track, the invitational 1500 will start at 6:20 p.m., and the first day of action will conclude with the 5000m at 7:45 p.m.

Saturday's events begin at 10 a.m. with discus action. The 4x100 relay will open the Saturday running events at 11 a.m.

With the Black and Gold Challenge as the lone home event of the season, UCF will recognize its seniors at 4 p.m., prior to the final event of the day.
