ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – For the first time in program history, the UCF women's basketball team will compete in postseason play in back-to-back seasons. The Knights earned their second consecutive Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) bid on Monday night.
UCF (21-10) will host Jacksonville (24-8) on Wednesday in CFE Arena. The game time and ticket information will be announced on UCFKnights.com on Tuesday.
The Knights recorded back-to-back 20-win campaigns for the first time since 1983-85. At 12-4 in American Athletic Conference action, UCF reached its most wins since joining the league in 2013. One season after earning the highest finish in the conference, the Black and Gold improved once again, earning a bye in the tournament as the three seed.
UCF earned its sixth overall postseason berth, having been to four NCAA Tournaments following Atlantic Sun Championships (1996, 1999) and Conference USA titles (2009, 2011). The Knights earned the first postseason victory in program history with a WNIT opening round win last season before falling at Georgia Tech in the second round.
