ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Sophomore Alea White was named Pitcher of the Week by the American Athletic Conference Monday afternoon for her performance on the field in the San Diego Classic.

The right-handed pitcher threw two of the four games for UCF over the weekend posting a 0.98 earned run average in 14 total innings. In the two complete games she tossed, she allowed only two runs to score while striking out 12. The opponents' batting average against White was only .200 giving up just 10 hits.

White led the Knights to a 3-0 shutout victory over No. 22 Long Beach State Friday afternoon giving up only five hits and striking out two 49er batters.

With the two wins from the weekend, White is now 8-5 on the season, which leads the American in victories and puts her at 23rd in the Nation in Division I. The Land O' Lakes native holds a 2.51 ERA heading into the home double header with Virginia Tech and Ball State.

The UCF Knights take a break from the road with a pair of home games on Tuesday, March 6 at the UCF Softball Complex hosting both the Virginia Tech Hokies and Ball State Cardinals. The Knights and Hokies battle first at 12:30 p.m. followed by a matchup with the Cardinals at 3 p.m. The day will also feature one-dollar hot dogs for sale.
