ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, taking on Temple.
 
The teams will tip off at 2 p.m. in McGonigle Hall and the game will air on the American Digital Network.
 
UCF (16-8, 8-3) faces Temple (10-13, 2-8) for the second time this season, but the first time in Philadelphia under head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson.
 
UCF LEADERS

  • A trio of Knights average double figures, led by Zakiya Saunders with 14.3 points per game. The Augusta, Ga., native has turned in three 20-point performances over her last five games.
  • Aliyah Gregory averages 10.7 points per contest and Korneila Wright averages 10.2 points per game.  
  • Saunders and Wright lead UCF in assists, averaging 4.1 and 4.0 per game, respectively. The duo are also the top two in steals, with Saunders swiping 2.7 per game and Wright with 2.5 per contest.
  • With five double-digit rebound games this season, Nyala Shuler leads the team with an average of 7.4. Shuler has 65 offensive rebounds, while Masseny Kaba leads the team with 72 offensive boards.

 
AROUND THE AMERICAN

  • With five games remaining in the regular season, the Knights are tied for third with an 8-3 record.
  • UCF's victory over Memphis gave the Knights their second-most victories in The American. The Black and Gold have now collected at least one win against 10 of their 11 league opponents
  • In conference games, the Knights are second in the league in scoring defense (50.5), field goal percentage defense (.356) and steals (10.7).
  • UCF ranks fifth nationally in scoring defense, holding opponents to 53.7 points per game. The Knights held the top scoring offense in the nation - No. 1 UConn - to a season-low 55 points on Feb. 7.
  • Zakiya Saunders is tied for second with 2.9 steals per game. Korneila Wright ranks fourth in steals (2.5) and is tied for fourth in assists (4.0).


 SCOUTING THE OWLS

  • Temple enters the contest with a 10-13 overall record and a 2-8 mark in The American.
  • The Owls lead the all-time series, 7-2, but the Knights hold the most recent victory. UCF opened American Athletic Conference action with a 76-46 win on Dec. 30 for its first victory over Temple in The American.
  • Tanaya Atkinson leads the Owls with an average of 22.3 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per contest. She also has 31 steals and 63 assists on the season.
  • Mia Davis is second on the team, averaging 11.8 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per contest.

UCF returns to CFE Arena on Feb. 18, hosting No. 22 USF in a War on I-4 contest. The teams will tip off at noon and the game will air on CBS Sports Network.
