Stifled at Cincinnati

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men's basketball team was unable to overcome offensive struggles Tuesday night at No. 6 Cincinnati, as the Bearcats won 77-40 at BB&T Arena to extend its nation-leading home win streak to 39 games.

"It was a disappointing loss," UCF head coach Johnny Dawkins said. "You give them a lot of credit. They're a talented team, a terrific defensive team, and they never allowed us to get into any rhythm offensively all night."

The Knights shot just 5-of-26 from the field in the first half and couldn't connect on any of their eight attempts from beyond the arc, as Cincinnati led 33-13 at the break.

"They're very active defensively," Dawkins said. "You can tell they all know the game plan very well. That's something they take pride in and it's what we take pride in, so I've seen both sides of it. They just really did a good job of executing their game plan."

The second half wasn't much better for the Knights, who were outscored 44-27. UCF was able to shoot a better clip from the floor, going 8-of-20, but still couldn't connect from three-point range, finishing the night 0-of-14. It was the Knights' first game without a three since 2012.

Ceasar DeJesus led UCF with 12 points, while A.J. Davis added nine, and Terrell Allen chipped in with six.

Cincinnati, which has now won 15 straight games, put four players in double figures, led by Trevor Moore with 14. Kyle Washington had 13, Gary Clark added 12 and Justin Jenifer finished with 11 on a trio of three-pointers.

UP NEXT
UCF will stay on the road and take on Memphis Feb. 11. The Knights and the Tigers will tip off at 4 p.m. from FedEx Forum on CBS Sports Network.
