Challenging Finish

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF women's golf team struggled just a bit down the stretch during the final round of the UCF Challenge Tuesday. The Knights slipped from fourth to finish seventh at Eagle Creek Golf Club.

On the individual leaderboard, Kaeli Jones was tied for the lead early in Tuesday's third and final round. But she was 6-over for the final eight holes, slipping back into a tie for third. Despite the late setbacks, Jones tallied her best finish as a Knight. Her previous best placement was 7th at last season's American Athletic Conference Championship. Jones finished tied for second-most birdies in the event, racking up 11. She was tied for the fifth-best average score among Par 4 holes as well.

Anna Hack, who also turned in 11 birdies throughout the three-day tournament, steadily climbed the leaderboard all week. She ended up tied for 21st after tallying a team-best 71 on Tuesday.

Ana Laura Collado also improved each day of the event. She finished in a tie for 37th. Nicolette Donovan tied for 61st, while turning in the best score of the tournament on Par 5 holes (-7). Kayla Kozak rounded out the UCF team lineup, while Chinatsu Kobayashi took part for the Knights as an individual.

Miami took home the team and individual title. The Hurricanes were 4-over for the tournament, edging East Carolina by four strokes. UM's Dewi Weber finished 7-under to take medalist honors by six strokes.
