MEMPHIS, Tenn. (UCFKnights.com) – The defense came on strong in the final three quarters as the UCF women's basketball team earned a 63-40 win at Memphis on Wednesday night.
After allowing 19 points in the first quarter, UCF (18-9, 10-4 The American) locked down on the defensive end, holding Memphis (8-19, 3-11 The American) to three single digit quarters to close the game.
Four Knights scored in double figures, led by Zakiya Saunders' 14 points. Korneila Wright recorded her first career double-double, scoring 11 points and tied her career-best with 10 assists. Masseny Kaba scored 11 points, and Jamesha Paul scored a season-high 10 points. Paul just missed a double-double, collecting a career-high nine rebounds.
UCF posted its 10th win for the first time as a member of the American Athletic Conference.
- The Knights collected their first 10-win season in conference play since the 2010-11 campaign in Conference USA.
- The Black and Gold also earned their first road win against the Tigers since joining The American. UCF's last win at Memphis came on Jan. 27, 2013.
- The Knights also swept Memphis for the first time in The American, and the first time since the 2013 campaign.
The Knights defense came up big.
- After allowing 19 points in the first quarter, UCF limited Memphis to just five points in the second quarter, and eight points each in the third and fourth quarters.
- The Knights held the edge in rebounding, collecting 44 to Memphis' 23.
- The Black and Gold forced 21 turnovers, turning them into 22 points.
- UCF also had 11 steals, and scored 14 fastbreak points.

UCF closes out regular season road action on Saturday, heading to Houston. The Knights will tip off against the Cougars at 1 p.m. ET in a game that will air on the American Digital Network.
