Jetting To Jacksonville

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF Softball hits the road again this weekend to take part in the Green and Gold Classic in Jacksonville. The weekend's lineup begins on Friday, Feb. 23 with a 12 p.m. game against Western Carolina followed by a battle with Penn State slated for 2:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Knights will face Western Carolina again at 9:30 a.m. and No.23 James Madison at 12 p.m. The tournament will wrap up with a matinee on Sunday at 2 p.m. dueling with host Jacksonville.

The Knights lead the American in fielding percentage (.969) and are top three in the conference in triples per game. Cassady Brewer leads the conference in total hits with 12 through 10 games, while sophomore Alea White continues to produce in the circle with 34 strikeouts, which is good for second in the conference and top 45 Nationally.

Western Carolina: 1-4 this season; First ever meeting with the Catamounts
Penn State: 0-6 on the season; 0-2 in the series with the last meeting taking place in 2008
James Madison: 5-2 this season; The Knights are 1-3 against the Dukes overall
Jacksonville: 6-4 on the season; 13-2 overall in the series with the Dolphins

RECAPPING LAST WEEKEND
The Knights went 3-2 in the Disney D-9 Invitational with wins over LIU-Brooklyn, FAMU, and an eight-inning battle with Hofstra, which ended in walk-off fashion after Brewer singled to center field to score Denali Schappacher.

UCF trounced LIU-Brooklyn, 13-7, racking up 15 hits including four doubles and a home run from Aubrey Johnson.

Schappacher went 5-for-10 in the five-game tournament with a .700 slugging percentage and brought in three runs. Kaitlyn Jensen posted a .400 batting average with six hits including a triple and a home run knocking in two and scoring three to round out the weekend.
