Taking on Tulsa

Gm27 Tulsa

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – From the first wins in The American over UConn and SMU, to the first road victory at Memphis, the UCF men's basketball team has been achieving a number of firsts during the 2017-18 campaign. When the Knights take on Tulsa Wednesday night in Oklahoma, they'll aim to add to that list.

In the nine all-time meetings between the two teams in Tulsa, the Knights have never defeated the Golden Hurricane on their home court.

And a win at the Reynolds Center Wednesday would mean even more than that. UCF is one game back of Tulsa for fourth place in The American standings, and with the two teams playing only once this season, the game would also serve as a tie-breaker for tournament seeding.

The Knights (17-9, 8-6) are coming off of their first win over SMU since joining The American, and they did it in dominating fashion. UCF won 52-37, marking its third time this season holding an opponent under 40 points.

No team in the nation has achieved the feat more times this season, and coming into the year UCF had only held its opponent to less than 40 points twice in 33 years of Division I Basketball. The 37 points tied the program record for lowest point total in a game.

The Knights will look to keep their three-game win streak momentum going against a Tulsa (16-10, 9-5) team that has been playing its best basketball at the right time. The Golden Hurricane has won five in a row, including victories over SMU, Tulane and UConn.

With just four games to play in the regular season, UCF is still one game ahead of where it was last year, looking to finish the regular season strong. After the game at Tulsa, UCF plays at Temple, before finishing off the year at home against Wichita State and Tulane.
