The 2018 UCF baseball season opens on Feb. 16 at John Euliano Park against Virginia, and now is the time to get your first look at the Knights. UCFKnights.com will preview each position group over the next two weeks to show who will be wearing the Black and Gold this year.

 THE NEW PITCHERS
One of the biggest strengths of the UCF baseball team in 2018 will be the pitching staff. Head coach Greg Lovelady and his coaching staff went out and picked up nine new arms in the 2017 recruiting class, headlined by the strong arms of JJ Montgomery and Jordan Spicer.

The two junior college transfers came in with big expectations. Spicer was selected in the 26th Round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins and tabbed as the 144th ranked prospect in the BA500 by Baseball America.

Montgomery was picked in the 33rd Round by the San Francisco Giants in 2016.

Much of the hype has surrounded the two potential rotational spots, but the 2017 recruiting class also boasted a slew of impressive arms that will make an impact out of the bullpen.

David Litchfield earned Cy Young honors in the 2017 Florida League. Jaylyn Whitehead, Garrett Westberg, Isaiah Musa and Luis Ferrer brought collegiate experience with them to Orlando.

Rookies Jeffrey Hakanson and Jack Sinclair have made the transition to the college game during the fall, and will look to make an impact early on in their careers.
