ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF junior pitcher Bryce Tucker has been named to the preseason watch list for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award, the organization announced on Monday.
Tucker became the first Knight to appear on the preseason watch list since Joe Rogers was tabbed prior to the 2011 campaign.
In his sophomore season, Tucker was electric out of the bullpen. Over the course of 27 appearances, the Apopka, Fla., native racked up nine saves – the third most in program history. Tucker kept hitters off balance with 55 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .154.
Tucker was named Preseason All-America by Collegiate Baseball and received a spot on The American Preseason All-Conference team.
The lefty was one of four pitchers named to the watch list from The American.
Tucker and the Knights will open the 2018 season this weekend with a tournament against Virginia, Rice and Samford.
