ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - With the 2018 season just 10 days away, the UCF baseball team appeared in another preseason poll. This time, the Knights were tabbed 29th by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
The Knights were ranked in the preseason poll by the NCBWA for the first time since 2015, when they were tabbed 34th to start the year.
The Black and Gold is one of two teams to represent the American Athletic Conference. Houston was the other conference squad. The Cougars checked in at No. 25.
Tuesday's ranking is the third of the preseason for the Knights. UCF was tabbed 22nd by Baseball America and 40th by College Sports Madness. The Knights received votes in the Collegiate Baseball, USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, Perfect Game.
The Black and Gold were also profiled just outside the DIBaseball.com Top-25 at No. 26.
Opening Knight is set for Feb. 16 against Virginia. The Knights will face Rice and Samford in the opening weekend tournament at John Euliano Park as well.
