FL Governor meets the Knights

Thursday afternoon, the Governor of Florida, Rick Scott, visited with the UCF Knights football team to congratulate them on their National Championship. The players were able to talk to the Governor about what they are studying, and they were able to get to know each other personally.

"It's fun just getting to interact with the student-athletes," said Scott, "I say tell me what you want to do and I might know someone who can be helpful to you so I want to try to do that."

Junior OL, Jordan Johnson, had the opportunity to present Gov. Rick Scott with a personalized UCF Knights jersey and then spoke to him about possible future opportunities after football.

"I'm a communications major and he introduced me to his Communications Director and just networking is going to be very beneficial in the future," said Johnson.

The surprise visit came after Gov. Rick Scott signed a proclamation indicating that the team will be recognized as the 2017 College Football National Champions in Florida.  The Governor brought each member of the team their own personal copy of the proclamation to own, and he gave each player a medal.

After the Governor addressed the team Johnson said, "It's awesome, I just sent out a Tweet that said, it doesn't get more official than this."

"Not many people can say they got an award from the Governor of Florida, but to have him announce us as National Champions, it's special," said Joey Connors, a 5th year senior on the team.

"They should be the National Champions," the Governor finished the visit declaring, "I mean just look at the facts, they were undefeated, beat Auburn which beat Georgia and Alabama, so I don't think there's any question they should be the National Champions."
