ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After helping the UCF women's tennis team to a perfect 2-0 mark to start the 2018 season, Rebeka Stomar was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

Playing in her first two matches for the Black and Gold, the Budapest, Hungary, native posted a pair of wins in singles action, as well as a 1-1 mark in doubles.

The Knights had claimed the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead, but the Gamecocks rallied to win three straight matches to jump in front. Stolmar rallied from one set down to take the second, but trailed 5-1 in the third.

With the match on the line, the rookie staved off defeat with six consecutive games to win 1-6, 6-1, 7-5. The victory set up Natalia Serrano to finish the upset in the third set at No. 6.

On Sunday, Stolmar and playing partner Silvia Bordes made quick work of their opponents from North Texas at No. 3 to win 6-4 and clinch the doubles point.

Stolmar, moved up to No. 3 singles, cruised in her match 6-0, 6-3, as the Knights won 4-1.
