Three For Masseny

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – For the third time this season, UCF rookie Masseny Kaba was named Freshman of the Week by the league office on Monday.

Kaba averaged 11.0 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per contest while helping the Knights to a pair of victories last week. The Dorchester, Mass., native led UCF (13-7, 5-2 The American) to its first home win over Tulane since joining The American, scoring a game-high 16 points and collecting a career-best four steals.

She finished with a pair of blocks as part of UCF's season-high 10 block performances in the Knights' first-ever regular season sweep of SMU. Kaba helped UCF to a 5-2 mark in league play, its best start in conference play since 2008-09.

Kaba is one of three freshmen in the league to collect the honor at least three times, joining Cincinnati's Iimar'i Thomas and Temple's Mia Davis. She previously earned the distinction on Nov. 27 and Jan. 8. Kaba is the sixth Knight to receive the accolade, but the first to be tabbed more than once in her rookie campaign.

The Knights open a two-game road stretch at Tulsa on Jan. 27. The teams will tip off at 3 p.m. ET on the American Digital Network.
