ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The second American Athletic Conference regular season meeting between UCF and SMU will take place in CFE Arena on Saturday.
 
The teams will tip off at 2 p.m. and the contest will stream on the American Digital Network.
 
UCF (12-7, 4-2 The American) collected a 60-42 victory when the squads met in Dallas on Jan. 3.
 
UCF LEADERS

  • A trio of Knights average double figures, led by Zakiya Saunders and Aliyah Gregory at 13.0 and 11.8 points per game, respectively.  
  • Korneila Wright averages 10.8 points per game and leads the team with 2.7 steals per contest.
  • Saunders and Wright lead UCF in assists, averaging 4.3 and 3.8 per game, respectively.
  • Nyala Shuler leads UCF with 7.2 rebounds per contest. Freshman Masseny Kaba leads the team with 53 offensive rebounds this season.

 
AROUND THE AMERICAN

  • At 4-2, UCF is off to its best start in The American. The Knights are tied with Houston for third in the league standings.
  • The Knights are 4-0 when holding a conference opponent under 56 points in 2017-18 and rank second in the league in scoring defense (55.7).
  • Korneila Wright ranks second among league players with an average of 3.0 steals per contest in conference action. Zakiya Saunders is third with an average of 2.3.

 
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS

  • SMU brings a 7-11 overall record to Orlando, with a 1-4 mark in The American.
  • The Mustangs lead the all-time series 13-8, but UCF has won the last two meetings between the programs.
  • McKenzie Adams leads SMU with 18.2 points per game and has a team-leading 22 three-pointers on the season.
  • Kiara Perry averages 10.7 points per contest for the Mustangs and has a team-high 40 steals.
  • Dai'ja Thomas grabs an average of 7.7 rebounds per game to lead SMU, while Klara Bradshaw has a team-high 29.
